Questions & Answers
I recently installed a kitchen hood that is vented to the outside and despite the backdraft damper on the outside of the house and within the hood, I still get significant backflow of cold air from the outside. Would this damper provide a more positive shutoff if I installed it in the duct? Do you have anything that provides a positive shutoff, even if it must me manually opened/closed? The backflow of cold air is a significant energy consumption issue.
The BDD6 6" round Back Draft Damper with blades actuated by gravity, permitting air to pass through them in one direction only, therefore preventing air from penetrating back into the home through the exhaust ducting. Aluminum construction with spring loaded damper. This should keep the cold air from coming in completely.
