Considering putting this inside my shower stall. Are any of the components likely to corrode over time? Is it considered fully waterproof? Do you have other lengths (18")? Iam looking for a grab bar that will mostly look like a towel bar. As this will be the 'guest bath' on the first floor, as well as the shower used by elder relatives (but only once or twice a year). Is there another model/style you would suggest?by Barbara W. on 07-04-2012
The Alsons 60026 is made with the same construction in mind that is used for Alson's long lasting shower heads. The length is 24" and is not adjustable (only 24" length is available). It is fully waterproof and will last many years without corrosion, especially if used infrequently as you decribe in your question.
For health related concerns or for elderly, you may want to consider a more heavy duty grab bar that can is made of stainless steel as opposed to Chrome. Stainless steel grab bars typically have fewer problems with corrosion, loss of finish, etc. Stainless steel is considered highly sanitary and easy to maintain and keep clean.
