Questions & Answers
I need to install hot water availability for 2 bathrooms each containing 3 sinks. These are only used occasionally. 1 2 times a month. What type of unit(s) would be best. How long does it take for warm water to be flowing from a tap once tap is opened?
1. Depending on your power source (electric or natural gas), and the available installation location, you can consider the following:
The Bosch Powerstream models will provide hot water for up to 2 low flow fixtures (or 1 standard fixture). If your sinks use low-flow fixtures, you can use 2 Powerstream units per bathroom. Or, if you would like to use one unit for all your sinks, you can install a whole house unit suitable for 2-3 bathrooms, which will supply all 6 fixtures (low flow fixtures)
The length of time before hot water can be expected is based on the installtion location and the amount of piping between the unit and the fixture. Bosch tankless water heaters use a sensor to identify the required Gallons per Minute of flow needed to trigger the heater, so once the water is turned on at the fixture, the water heater will begin instantaneously heating the water as it passes.
I am moving my washer and dryer to a new location and want to install a tankless water heater, i am not sure what size i need, i will be using hot water for the dishwasher, sink and sometimes the washing machine ( don't always use hot water for washing clothes). Could you let me know what size i would need and the price of that unit? Thanks, David Mapp
In order to run both your dishwasher and your washing machine at the same time, without loss of hot water, you will need on average 6-8 Gallons per minute of hot water. The Bosch Powerstream RP1P will only be able to heat 2 GPM, which will not be strong enough for your application. The RP1P is commonly used for a single sink / fixture.
In order to distribute enough hot water, it is recommended to install a small "whole house" unit that is designed for 1-2 bathrooms where the water output is closer to your desired range.
