Only units designed for use with a speed control can utilize one.  Generaly speaking, if a unit is not listed as 'variable fan speed control,' the unit will not be empowered for this application.  Refer to your specific models specifications to determine if it can.

No. Range hoods are specifically designed to handle grease and high temperature environments. Ventilation provided by NuTone or Panasonic fans are only a supplement for odor and moisture removal in the kitchen.

MAKE SURE POWER IS SWITCHED OFF AT SERVICE PANEL BEFORE SERVICING THE UNIT. Clean your exhaust fan's grill with a mild detergent, such as dishwashing liquid, and dry with a soft cloth. NEVER USE ANY ABRASIVE PADS OR SCOURING POWDERS. Completely dry before restoring power. NEVER IMMERSE ELECTRICAL PARTS IN WATER. The fan assembly can be vacuumed when build up (dirt, lint, etc.) accumulates over time.

1. Check that there is power to the exhaust fan. The most common trouble is the circuit breaker is off or there is a blown fuse.2. Turn off power to the exhaust fan and check that all wires are properly connected. Refer to your specific model's installation instructions for proper wiring instructions.

Exhaust fans with a UL listing for installation over a tub or shower on a GFCI circuit can be installed over a tub or in a shower.  Units that include any type of heating fuction to them are not able to be installed over a tub or shower. Check you specific product for more information.
