Questions & Answers

I need a new Hayward backwash push/pull valve for vertical grid DE60 filter 2" SKT (SP0410X502S). How difficult is it to take out the old one and install the new one myself? Does it come with instructions and does it have to be glued on one side? Thank you for your reply. Dieter Galli

With all pool & spa repairs and parts replacements, we recommend consulting a professional pool contractor before attempting to make any repairs yourself. Incorrect installations can result in additional damage to your pool filtration system.

According to a Hayward representative, the Hayward SP0410X502S comes with instructions outlining what each valve is for, however, installation is based on each unique configuration, therefore instructions regarding final installation are not included.  The SP0410X502S valve is hard plumbed and is not easily removed. In order to remove the valve, the piping must be cut and new PVC piping must be glued into place.
