Can this Malibu Lighting 8100-0600-01 transformer be mounted in an unheated shed instead of outdoors?by Joseph G. on 08-19-2014
Per Malibu, they do not recommend installing it in an enclosed space. They state you are able to install it underneath a covered area if needed.on 08-21-2014
Can you run 2 runs of 650 foot of wire off this transformer, using only 60 - 7 watt lights?by charles H. on 08-06-2012
The transformer has the power to manage the 420 watts of load, however, you may loose a lot of power in the wire, stressing the transfomer load. You will either want to make sure you are using high quality wire with little power drop off, and the correct thickness. At this time, I can not give you an approximation, as it would be dependant on the wiring at this point as to whether it will work or not.on 08-06-2012
would I be able to use 12 50watt light bulbs on this transformer?by Cliff M. on 06-09-2012
No, we do not recemmed drawing a full 600 watts from this transformer, it can potentially over-stress it and cause it to burn out prematurely. When connected through wires, lighting fixtures will put more stress on the transformer, due to voltage loss in the wires. As this happens, the amount of usable electricity at the end point of each wire is less than at the transformer.
For example, if you are using 50-100ft of wire to connect your lighting fixtures, you will want to limit the usage to 8-10 of the 50 watt lamps. Alternatively, LED lamps can be substituted (which draw far less power), or you can connect the 12 fixtures to two transformers, spliting the load.on 06-11-2012

is this a magnetic transformer? what type of dimmer can I use?by Dimitrios T. on 05-05-2012
This is a magnetic transformer. Landscape lighting is not normally used with a dimmer so I cannot say whether or not this transformer will work properly with a dimmer. Dimming compatibility would also be dependent on the light fixtures used as well.on 05-08-2012Please login or register before adding a question.
