About this Product
The Panasonic Passive Inlet is an essential installation tool for your ventilation systems. The inlet vent has many properties that may benefit your application. The passive inlet allows your ventilation to provide makeup air to help balance indoor versus outdoor pressure. The makeup air allows to introduce fresh air from the outside, replacing the air exhausted by the ventilation fan. This replacement of air keeps humidity levels relative, and maintains a healthy atmosphere.
The Panasonic FV-GKF32S1 features a foam pad to reduce outdoor noise and condensation, an insulation lining, a 3-inch diameter, 12 inch in length through-the-wall sleeve and 7 stainless steel installation screws. The FV-GKF32S1 can be set with three positions: Closed, 12 and 18 CFM. Other great features of the FV-GKF32S1 are the washable air filter, 2 position air delivery, a durable open/close levr and a bug screen. Installation of the FV-GKF32S1 requires a 3" wall opening diameter.
All these great features of the Panasonic FV-GKF32S1 Passive Inlet are backed by Panasonic's 3-year limited warranty.

Good product -- poor Panasonic service.
This product (FV-GKF32S) arrived with a broken tab which connects the front plate to the unit. Westside Wholesale offered the Panasonic parts phone number, and indicated a willingness to replace it if Panasonic did not service it. I called Panasonic, and was promised a call back. No call. Third time (> month), I spoke to a Panasonic representative who indicated that, since I purchased this from an authorized Panasonic distributor, Panasonic had no responsibility. I elected not to bother Westside, but rather to repair the unit by drilling and placing two screws in the front plate. I will continue purchasing from Westside, as their service has been impeccable. I will never buy anything with a Panasonic name on it.
This vent was purchased to permit outside air to flow into a laundry room containing a gas dryer. The existing vent was merely a hole in the wall (new home purchase). Installation was straighforward (but required an interface plate, since my existing hole was oversized for the vent).
Construction of the vent is quite good. It consists of an outside portion with an insect screen, a 3" ABS pipe, which can be cut to size, and an inner portion containing a filter (easily removed), and a lever which opens/closes the vent. And, of course, a front cover plate which snaps onto the inner unit, if the tabs are not broken. This portion is delicate.
Installation consists of attaching the outer unit to the outside wall, cutting the 3" ABS pipe to length, and attaching the inner unit to the inside wall. The pipe fits onto both units with a gasket for a good seal. The filter on the inside unit is washable and replaceable. I chose to augment the insect screen with one having a smaller pitch (standard window screening), attaching it with silicone adhesive.
Operation consists of opening or closing the vent with a simple lever. I leave the vent open, which is appropriate for gas dryer operation. (Alternative would be an automatic vent.) The 18 cfm is adequate, as shown by the lack of vacuum pulling the closed door open. I worry about the off-white plastic incurring UV damage from sunlight.
Bottom line, this is an excellent vent. If it arrives fully functional, it should perform well. My *only* gripe is the utter lack of service from Panasonic. I emphasize the good service I have consistenly received from Westside Wholesale.
