The history of steam use dates back to 460 BC. Hippocrates, who is regarded by most medical historians as the father of medicine, used steam for treatment.

“Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food. But to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness”.

In Roman times, steam was used in public paths as a means of sanitation. It Later evolved into what would be called the steam bath where rooms were constructed.
